Interview Session with Dimple Singh

Q. From your parent’s specs, how’d you introduce Dimple Singh? And how’d that differ from the perspective of what your friends/readers have about you?

A. According to my parents, I have always been a person who is entirely dedicated towards her life, studies and career. My parents have total faith in me and know that my career is always my first priority and I always accomplish my goals and fulfil all my dreams. The only difference between my friends’/readers perspective and my parents perspective about me is that my parents feel that I am too introvert whereas my friends know that I can even use my introvert nature as my strength to accomplish my goals.

Q. What should the readers expect from your book “Intimidating Obscurity: A Pursue to Eternity”?

A. “Intimidating Obscurity: A Pursue to Eternity” is a book that tends to define the eternal destination of true love through the character of Stella Stewart. With elements of suspense and unpredictable twists, the book tends to answer all the questions that are in the mind of a human being when seeking true love and also inspires people to deal with the most peril situation of their lives with smirk and faith in oneself.

Q. How did you feel the first time you hold the copy of your book?

A. The first time I held the copy of my book was the most blissful and appreciating moment of my life. That day I felt that I’ve finally climbed the first ladder of success and I knew it very well that there are still many goals to attain. It was a proud moment for me. The moment accelerated my self-confidence and inspired me to work harder towards my career.

Q. Tell us more about your journey of writing the first word of your book to selling its first copy.

A. Writing a book is indeed a very challenging task. In the beginning, I just worked on the rough story idea that I had designed for my book. It was my thrill and excitement that motivated me to complete most of my chapters in the beginning. By and by, the plot started developing as I kept on writing more chapters. It was difficult to devote time to writing my book along with my studies. I somehow managed to schedule a day in a month that would be the best to continue with writing my book.

Finally, after a year I completed my first book. Although my book was completed yet I never thought of getting it published as I feared of rejection. It was my friends Aliza Zafar and Akanksha Singh that urged me to get it published. After a year I finally made up my mind of getting my book published. I had no idea of whom to contact and how to contact. So I researched for around a month to generate the list of the best publishers and contacted a few of them by mail. One day Partridge India contacted me and after signing a legal contract with them the publication process was initiated and after two months my book was launched and I held the first copy of my book in my hands.

Q. How did you find the publishers? Any words for them?

A. As I’ve mentioned above I did one month of research work on the best publishers for my book. After the completion of my research work, I contacted a few publishers by mail to which I attached my book proposal and a few sample chapters. One day Partridge Publishers contacted me and the process of publication initiated. I would like to thank Partridge for identifying and appreciating my writing talent and of course for guiding me throughout. This dream would have been impossible to accomplish without the support of Partridge Publishers.

Q. Apart from writing, what else do you do in as hobbies?

A. Apart from writing I am engaged in various things like writing and composing lyrics, singing, graphic designing, poetry and acting.

Q. If you’d be allowed to read the last book of your life, which one would you choose? And, what about one last movie?

A. If I’m allowed to read the last book of my life I would like to read ‘Tell Me Your Dreams’ by Sidney Sheldon and in the case of movie I would like to watch ‘Rustom’ and ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.’

Q. What are your thoughts about the current state of Indian English literature?

A. In the past few years our country, India, has developed at a rapid pace and the development is highly commendable. Our country is developing in all fields including English Literature. Presently Indian English Literature is just a little bit behind from being the best and I ensure that our country will excel in the field of Literature one day.

Q. What are your goals for future, in person and in the profession?

A. I have many goals in my life. My career in writing has already initiated and presently I’m working on the enhancement of my vocal skills to polish myself before initiating my career in music. I always ensure that my academic results are not affected by my hobbies and side profession. Despite having many goals I know that my major goal is to become a successful and renowned journalist.

Q. What else can we expect from you in the nearby future? Any projects you’ve been working on?

A. Presently I’m working on three books- the first one is the sequel to my book, the second one is a crime thriller and the third one is the autobiography of one of my best friend. My major focus is on the autobiography as I’ve promised myself that I’ll write a book on my best friend.
