(Book Review: Khan vs Kahn vs Kanh)
The three Khans, Akbar, Amit and Chris, spelt their surnames differently but the Indian filmgoer still liked them. They were the uncrowned kings and superstars of the Hindi film industry. ‘Uncrowned’ meant there was no clarity about who was better than the other. This confusion was on display from the way they tried to run down each other in private and public.
Baba Ram Karim was everything rolled into one- a philanthropist, businessman, film financier, racehorse breeder, educationist and much more. Some called him Don behind his back!
The three superstars indulge in the ruckus and childish behaviour during Baba’s famous Iftar party where they were invitees. A furious and unhappy Baba plans retribution and calls it Khan Vs Kahn Vs Kanh.
The story plot is knitted around the Bollywood- Hindi film industry, and the three superstars with similar kind of surnames, who’s ruling the industry for quite a few time. The storyline is unique with strong characterization of the leads.
The lead characters are Akbar Khan, Chris Kahn and Amit Kanh. The initial few pages of the book might confuse the readers with all the names, parent’s introductions and stuff, though things got pretty clear with time when the characters show their behaviour.
The story deals with the struggle in Bollywood and life in cinema. Oh, by the way, this book is apt to be directed as a movie 😉 For, it’s definitely a hooking one!
The language and writing style of the author, N. S. Ravi, is lucid and understandable. And, the narration is easy to follow.
The research conducted to write this story is visible and deserves appreciation. The storytelling skill of the author is the cherry on the cake.
Another good thing about this book is that there is no particular ‘hero’ in the story, but it’s a compilation of vivid struggles and emotional scenes. The book is gripping and you’d like to finish it in one go from cover to cover.
So, if you are a movie lover; if you wanna read something unique, this book is certainly for you!
I wish the book cover could have been more attractive!
